There are so many voices fighting for your attention right now. There is your phone, your family, your business, your favourite TV shows, your hobbies, your daily necessities, your pleasures and your pains. Life will always throw all these things at you. Your job is how you answer these voices. Would you answer like David did to Goliath or like the officer did to Elisha (2 Kings 7:1-2)?
Scripture says “….seek those things which are above” (Colossians 3:1-2). This is where our livelihood (Life) is. Our standard is above. We are not to focus on things on the earth. That is below standard. If Christ is not the centre of all that you do then you are living below standard. You need to come up higher.
Below standard means not good enough. What you are doing is not enough to make it good. That means that the good life will elude you if you focus on things on the earth. Love is higher than hate. Peace is higher than worries. Challenge every thought shifting you focusing off the truth of God’s word which is Christ. If you think average you will be average. If you think Christ, you will be like Christ.
To be conscious of this higher life, you need to focus on Christ. This is done by meditation. Meditation can be seen like this, if you build a house, you will make sure that it is secure enough for your family. You will put protectors on your windows. You will use iron doors. You will build a wall with a gate. You do all this to make sure anyone against you cannot have access. So also you take God’s word and worry over it, till you have built a picture where doubt can no longer have access to your heart.
Focus On Who He Is
Jesus is the Word made flesh (John 1:14). This means that Jesus is my reality. He is my everything. Jesus is my health made real. He is my freedom made real. He is my salvation made a reality for me. If you just see Jesus as a means to be born again and that is all, you do not know him. He is God personified.
Focus on Who He Is In You
Who he is in you is your identity in Christ. Irrespective of which area you look at your life, there is an answer in Christ. All the issues of confusion, failure and depression are not you.
In the aspect of sin, it has no power over you for you have been made free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2). What of fear? It was never given to us by God. It is alien to us. What was given to us was love, power and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). What of wisdom? “Am I smart enough? Can I make the right decisions concerning the affairs of my life?” We have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). So yes we have wisdom. It is all settled in Christ.
When you see in Christ scriptures, internalize them. Do not internalize “I do not know what to do. I am tired of this life. This pain in my body does not want to go away.” Do you know what you are doing? You are identifying yourself with the problem. Do not dwell on that. Dwell on Christ in you so his life can have an expression in you.
Focus On His Ministry In You
Jesus said, “I will not leave you comfortless…” (John 14:18). When he was leaving he also said “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever (John 14:16). His ministry in your life is primarily fellowship. A functional day to day walk with him will lead to him comforting us, teaching us, guiding us and empowering us. He is with us 24/7.
Waking up midnight every day to pray against demons so they won’t disturb you at night shows you are not conscious of his ever-abiding presence. Give utmost attention that he is with you always. Remember God has said “…I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5). This means that God is saying to you, I will never fail you.
You have a part to play. Never fail to give attention and acknowledge his presence in you. Jesus always acknowledged his Father’s work in him. (John 14:10). Always acknowledge the holy spirit work in you. He is with you, in you and for you.
Thanks 😊
