We are created by God in His image and God is a spirit. Therefore we are primarily spiritual beings. Saying to yourself  “I am only human” is speaking against your nature. The devil is at work making people believe that they are just flesh and blood. If you believe him, then he will beat you every time. This is because he knows that the greatest place of influence is in the spirit realm. That is how he influences things. He wants you to think within your five senses; to think earthly thoughts so you are kept grounded.

You should not be “…ignorant of his devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11 NKJV). Paul was not. To prevent falling for his tricks scriptures tells us to “set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” (Colossians 3:2 NKJV). People who are fighting for power whether in politics or business know it is not about mind games, it is spiritual. Only those who are spiritually strong will succeed. You must tap into the spiritual realm with your born again spirit and begin to change the atmosphere around you.

It is a huge risk if you are not born again. But once you are, in the spiritual realm you are number one. The spiritual realm deals with knowing. If you do not know who you are, you will be trampled on. There is a story of a believer who was being oppressed in his sleep every night by evil spirits. So another believer counselled him that he is higher than any spiritual being and he has authority over them. From that day the evil spirits never came again because he now knew more about who he is. Knowing who you are is vital in walking in authority.

Vision Minded

In the last article, we talked about being word minded to walk in our God-given identity. The next thing to keep in mind is we need to be vision minded. The devil said to Jesus after showing Him all the kingdoms of the world and it’s glory “All these things I will give You if you will fall down and worship me.” Jesus replied “Away with you Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ” (Matthew 4:9-10 NKJV).

To be vision minded means you have a purpose and you are on course to fulfil it. Jesus was not playing around. He was purposeful. When the devil came to him personally in Matthew 4, he told him to get lost. When he came through peter in Matthew 16:23 (MSG)  he told him to “…get lost…” again. But when he came through Judas in John 13:27 (AMP), he did not tell him to get lost. He said, “…What you are going to do, do quickly[without delay].” This shows us there is a given path to fulfilling purpose. Jesus path was to die on the cross for our sins. He knew a betrayal from Judas was part of the journey to the cross and allowed it. If the devil had known he “…would not have crucified the Lord of Glory” (1 Corinthians 2:8 NKJV). He played directly into God’s hand.

God has given us a path through which we are to do his work. Your path could be through writing books or singing songs or building businesses. Whatever path God reveals to you, stick to it. Do not look at other people’s method and feel yours would not work. Stick to the plan God has given you. The devil will put obstacles in your way to make you change course. Do not change course. God never said we should go around the mountain. We are not the ones to move. It is the mountain that is to move (Mark 11:22-24 NKJV).

The devil tries to use outside influence to control us and put our focus on the wrong things. For Judas he used money and in the end, he killed himself. For Solomon the devil used women. He forgot who he was and began to worship other gods. What you focus on will determine the voice you will hear. When you focus on the wrong things, wrong thoughts will come. Judas focused so much on money that the devil told him how he can make more money by betraying Jesus.

If you are married and you focus on another woman rather than your wife, you will hear more of the devil telling you every reason to commit adultery than God’s voice telling you to flee sexual immorality. Like I said, you focus on the wrong things and the wrong thoughts will come which will lead to wrong actions.

Focus on your God-given purpose and God will speak to you the path that he wants you to take. When you focus on God’s word, God will speak to you. When you focus on helping others, God will speak to you.
