Shinning In A Dark World

The light coverage of a bulb is different from the coverage of the sun. A bulb can light up a room but the sun lights up the earth. So what does it mean when we are told: “You are the light of the world?” (Matthew 5:14 NKJV) It does not say your business or your assets is the light but it says ‘you’. The world is supposed to learn what it means to truly live through you. Where you work or where you stay is not the light of the world but there is a difference in those places because you are there. Anywhere you see excellence and things working, somebody did it. That person can be you and should be you.

If you are not operating in the realm of: “there is something different about you” then you are covering your light. This is mostly as a result of laziness or selfishness. The life of Christ will not shine out if we do not lay demands on it. The light is for others not just for you.

Isaiah 9:2 NKJV is a prophecy about people seeing Christ in you, it says, “The people in darkness have seen a great light.” Therefore people ought to see your light. They are looking for a better life. Some are not sure if it’s possible. They are looking for a change. But they won’t see it if you do not believe that you have what they are looking for. And you do, the life of Christ.

Wake Up

Since Light has come we are to arise. It is in arising that we shine (Isaiah 60). Arising is as a result of insight. When you see from God’s word that you are not supposed to live in sickness that is when health begins to shine. When you see from God’s word that you are from a royal lineage, that is when your kingship mentality begins to shine. Change in life starts from changing your mindset.

Saying I do not want to be poor is not the answer to poverty. You must believe that you are not supposed to be poor. They are two different things. The latter is knowing that your identity is not linked to poverty. You need the insight into who you are from God’s word to ignite your world. The ignition to a great life is insight. Make reading God’s word top priority. Give it quality time so that all shall see your light.

Work It

Nothing works without someone working it. To stand before kings means your disciplined actions have paved a way for you (Proverbs 22:29). Diligence is necessary for making anything work. With it, bad ideas work. Without it, good ideas will not work.

As believers we do not try things out, we work things out. We work out the light inside of us. Jesus said “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:16). Working is linked with shining. The more you work, the more you shine.

When God was creating the earth, he kept working on the purpose of a thing until he “…saw that it was good” (Genesis 1:10, 12, 18, 21, 25, 31). Good means fit for purpose. This is good works. You keep working at it till it fits what you are looking for. “I want a good marriage” you may say. You work at it till your marriage fits into the picture of a good marriage. It is not one-off that is why it’s hard work. Hard work is good work.

God has handed the earth over to us and the world is in a bad shape because believers keep giving up before the work becomes good. That is why bad things are happening around the world. Pray till the purpose you are praying for comes to pass. Work on your business until the purpose of it comes to pass.

Will to Win

To be a light-bearer you must have a hilltop mentality. You are a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:14 KJV). Your mind should be set on victory at all times. Having a hilltop mentality means you do not have time to dwell on your mistakes, excuses or what people say about you. All you know is that victory is always yours. Things may get rough but when the dust settles you will still be standing.

When the three Hebrews boys were about to be thrown into the fire they replied “…Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.” (Daniel 3:17). Hilltop mentality means no matter how hot things get this will be your testimony: “And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them” (Daniel 3:27).

As believers, we are public figures. You do not need to wait for twitter or Facebook to certify you so. God has already done that. Jesus said, “…go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15. Trying to live a life that is quiet and reserved to only your family is against the life that has been given to us. You are a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden. This life is not for hiding. To live this life takes boldness. It takes leaving your comfort zone. When you live beyond yourself, you will be on fire and the whole world will come and watch you burn, glorifying your Father which is in heaven.
