If God wants something done he uses people. “Why doesn’t God come down and get things done?” He gave man dominion over the earth. God gave man authority in such a way that he cannot take back. So even if you mess up, God would not say “That’s it. I am taking my power back”. Rather he will look for someone willing to do it. God expects us to be in charge wherever we are.
To be in charge simply means you’re the boss, you decide to make things conform to God’s will. To be the boss does not mean you tell your boss in the office “I am the boss around here so saith the Lord.” You will end up being unemployed. It means that you are an enforcer of the blessings of God. (Genesis 1:28) So your company is not supposed to be having loss when a believer is part of that workforce. Isaac kept digging new wells until the blessings of the Lord was established. (Genesis 26:18-26) What if he gave up after the first two wells? He would have said maybe I am cursed or the environment is not favourable. The blessing of God is not an entitlement. “I am a hard worker, I am supposed to have a high earning job” or “I kept my virginity so I am supposed to marry a very good man.” If you do not enforce the blessing of God, you are in for a rude awakening when you begin to ask why things are not working.
Have you ever seen a boss begging his employee’s to work? That is not a boss at all. A boss tells you what he wants from you and if he does not get it, he will get someone who will get the job done. Take charge of your entire life and all that is connected to you. Moses never went to Egypt to the tell the people of Israel “Please I would like to bring you guys deliverance if that is ok with you.” Whatever you cannot say with boldness consistently is never going to happen in your life. You cannot say it once in a while. You have to say it always. Moses kept saying “Let my people go, Let my people go, Let my people go” (Exodus 5-10).
The fastest way we will change the world is to play our own part well. When you do not live out your best, someone is not getting blessed. Israel needed deliverance from slavery and Moses made an effort to deliver them on his own and he failed. You cannot live your best outside of God. When he did it with God, he brought Israel out of Egypt. The world needs your best. Your best is in God. Anything less of your best would not cut it. The world is in darkness. Only light can fix it. Anything outside of God is in darkness. If darkness cannot put out light, then nothing in this life is qualified to stop you.
David said “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:1-2). Let me say it in the New Testament way, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Philippians 4:13). Just as strength comes when we take in food and break it down by chewing, strength comes when we take in God’s word and break it into our present living. People are ganging up against you in the office and as you are reading Joseph’s story in Genesis, the Holy Spirit in you begins to put you as the lead actor in place of Joseph. Begin voicing those great things that happened in Joseph life over yours till is no longer Joseph you see but you. You are bringing what happened in the scriptures to empower your present with the same good result. In the end, the situation will turn for your good.
